Thanksgiving 2008

I hope that you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We truly enjoyed our time together surrounded by our family. This year, Jason and I stayed home on Thursday. My father had to work this year's holiday and we decided that it would be best to get together over the weekend. Jason and I had talked about heading up to Nashville, but decided that we would just wait and go up on Saturday.

Jason and I have spent the past 14 Thanksgivings together. We have fond memories of Thanksgivings spent with each of our families during our dating years. We also remember the days of when we were first married and lived four hours away from home. Those Thanksgivings were packed with visits to see everyone - all in one day! Breakfast, lunch and dinner!!!! We also fondly remember Joshua and Abby Kate's first Thanksgiving and how, just last year, Jackson had his first Thanksgiving (sniff).

Jason and I spent Thanksgiving day decorating the house for Christmas with the kids. We had the most wonderful time together. Later that evening, Jason headed out to pick up our turkey. (Side note: I absolutely LOVE cooking turkey. But because we had waited so long to finalize our plans, I did not have time to buy and thaw a turkey. I really wanted a HoneyBaked turkey, but the cheapest one they offered was $21.99. I couldn't justify spending that much on a bird for just my crew of five. I called Cracker Barrel and they were offering a pound of their cooked turkey for $8.99. A pound was a bit much, but for the price, I couldn't have bought and made my own turkey.) We feasted on turkey, corn, dressing, green beans, mashed potatoes, rolls and we had Sticky's for dessert. To make it all a little more special, we ate in the dining room on the fine china. The highlight of the meal for the kids was that they drank tea (decaf, of course).

We truly are blessed and I am so thankful for the family and friends that God has blessed us with!
