Trial and Error

Last month, Jason and I raised our thermostat in an effort to reduce our electricity bill. In July, we paid $50 more than our monthly bill for June. In order to conserve our electricity and lower our bill, we raised our thermostat 2 degrees to 79 and learned to adjust. We found that we were actually COLD when we went to bed at night. I will admit, there were some days where I really needed the A/C to be a little cooler, but I had my mind fixed on lowering our electricity bill for this month.

I just walked out to the mailbox and received my monthly statement. Our bill was NOT lower at all! In fact, it was raised by $13.65! I was just trying to save some money and be more environmentally friendly. Oh well! I think that we will still keep our thermostat set at 79. With the cooler days (by cooler, I mean - high 80's) we have been having, maybe we will see a dramatic difference next month. Here's hoping..

Have you looked at the number of days on the bill and tried computing it that way? I know sometimes on my bill there may be 32 days and the next month it will be 28. It just depends on when the guy comes by to read your meter. Maybe that would make it look better...

Even though you turned you thermostat down, July was hotter than June, so your bill could have been even higher if you had kept your thermostat on 77.

All our power comes from TVA and they raised their rates a good % here in June. Our bill was outrageous!

OUCH! We've done the same thing and adjusted our thermostat. We are still waiting for the next bill to see if there's been an improvement. I loved the twin pictures. I can't even imagine the fun and experiences of having two babies at once. I just realized that not only did you have two babies at once but they probably doubled the amount of activity for you. Aidan is literally a tornado and I spend so much time picking up after him. If I had double I think I'd go insane. Now I know why God chooses certain mommies to have multiples! You are so blessed. Thanks for sharing your pics! (I can't get rid of any of my "bad" ones either...they hold memories too.)

The weather lately has gotten me so ready for fall, the cooler temps in the morning and evenings have been so nice. I am ready to shut off the AC and open some windows!

Ill be honest, I don't knoe hoe you stand 79! I turn ours up to 74when we're not there, bot the rest of the time ot's on 72 or 73, and we put it on 71 at noght. That's one thing I'm willing to v\cough it up for.
