If your 19 month old can figure out the child-proof lock, do you get a refund?
We are really limited on the safety locks that we can use on our doors. The pantry is the only door that I NEED locked at all times!!! Unfortunately, our little guy has figured it out and now my days are filled with getting him out of the pantry. He loves getting anything and everything out. Sometimes he eats it and other times he just dumps it all out onto the floor. Just the other day, he dumped out the entire bag of pretzels all over the floor (those little pieces of salt are the worst to clean up). It is very important that this door remained locked at all times. I haven't seen any other kind of safety lock for a lever door knob. I think that we are going to have to change out the door knob in the kitchen for the time being. We'll see you at Lowe's!

I think you should get a refund plus punitive damages for all the wasted food.
I also think women should get restitution when the birth control the DR prescribes fails! But that's a topic for another post.
Wow... Jack is one clever little boy! They need to give you and refund and the child some sort of reward! A bag of chips, perhaps?
One cleaver kid though! Is there any way you can hook the door so you guys can only open it? Seriously...he is genious!

Wow, he's a smart little guy! I definitely agree, you need a refund! Yeah I think changing out to a door knob is definitely going to be your best bet, I know I even have trouble opening up those when they have the child proof cover over them!
That is hilarious!! I think he's going to be an engineer!! I love the pic of him eating the bag of chips!! Too cute!

He's a little booger, isn't he? :) Noah is the same way, Sunny...you know that! I know you're limited on what types of safely door knob covers you can use, but it probably wouldn't matter with him. He would probably figure out the next one. We have regular door knobs and I went through 2 different kinds and Noah figured out how to pop both of them off in like 5 seconds. He can pop them off faster than I can. I just ended up locking the doors that had locks from the inside and shutting them when he kept getting into rooms I didn't want him to. Some doors don't have locks, though, so that was hard...and still can be. :) Good luck! It's just having patience until they outgrow the "into everything" stage. :)
So, I agree with Anna. It probably wouldn't matter what kind of lock you have on your doors. Will has figured out how to open the door with the child lock cover thingy over it. I think it took him like one day of really wanting into the pantry to figure it out. Just a waist. What I do in the pantry is try to move all the goodies to the very top and all of my cans, paper products, unopened cereal boxes, etc. to the bottom. He isn't very interested in those. You may have to even leave your stool up somewhere high that he can't get to until this phase is over. Good luck with it all! I know it is driving you crazy!
I know that's frustrating, but it's SOOO funny!!! :)
On the doors that I absolutely don't want the kids in(heater unit, hot water closet, etc), I use the doorknob covers (the ones that won't fit your handle, sorry) but I also installed a slide lock towards the top of the door. (about 6" down from top of door.) You just screw the slider on the door, then the hole for it to slide into on the door frame. Cheap, easy to install and only the tall-enough can reach it. You could take them off and putty the holes when he's out of the phase if you wanted to!
I'm just going to padlock the pantry door!
hahaha! I'm sorry he is so brilliant! we have the same pantry issues.
I saw on supernanny where she puts one of those slide locks really high up. I never watch that show, but for some reason that stuck in my head!
But look how cute he is :)
